Anyone who owns documents that are written in a script other than Latin probably already knows this. If you have documents that contain, for example, Cyrillic or Chinese characters, officially translated, you should know that it is important to provide the translator with transcriptions of any names as they appear in your documents (for example, in your passport). If the translator does not have transcripts available, you will have the names listed in the translation only according to the prescribed transcription, which may or may not correspond to your other documents.

Of course, this also applies vice versa, so for example when translating into a foreign language that does not use the Latin alphabet, it is important to provide transcriptions of names in the given script, if they already exist.
